Spring update from the chapter

The chapter teamed up with the Sigma Kappa sorority to clean up campus

My name is Ryan Vandenberg and I am the newly elected President of the Oregon Alpha colony. On behalf of the colony, I’d like to take this time to update you on our progress thus far this quarter in Winter 2023.

So far this winter, we have six accepted bids and two bids outstanding. We are pleased to announce that among this group of new members is Davis Dunahugh, an Oregon Alpha legacy of brother Brian Dunahugh (’93, 1344). These six gentlemen have begun their new member process and were aiming to be initiated in March 2023. Their addition will put us at 20 members strong. It's worth noting that the University of Oregon’s Fraternity Sorority Leadership office does not host an ‘official’ winter rush process. Thus, we have done our own prospecting, recruiting, and educating without any university support in the Winter of 2023.

This quarter has been a great learning opportunity for our newly elected Executive Board and this trend will continue through the academic year. Some major items coming up this Winter quarter:

• We are hosting ‘Hunter’s Pledge’, a weeklong, nationwide philanthropic initiative that aims to end Distracted Driving

• We formed a PKP Chartering Task Force composed of our ten most academically accomplished brothers who aim to complete our chartering petition and renew our status as a nationally recognized chapter of Phi Kappa Psi

• The entire chapter attended the Oregon Beta (Oregon State) Founders Day Celebration held at Reser Stadium in February.

We as a colony continue to recognize that much of our success would not be possible without your continued support, both morally and financially. Additionally, we want to congratulate Eric Mueller on becoming the newly elected President of the Oregon Alpha Housing Corporation. We look forward to fostering a fruitful relationship with the advisory committee, as well as the Housing Corporation, as we set our sights on reclaiming 729 E 11th Ave in the name of our historic chapter.

We look forward to introducing you all to the newest additions to our brotherhood.

High High High!

Ryan Vandenberg
